Random Daily 4/3/2015: Happy Easter, Ostara, Eostre; Let’s Do Better; Don’t Tell My Wife What I Bought!

Happy Easter, Ostara, Eostre;

Let’s Do Better;

Don’t Tell My Wife What I Bought!

Random Dailies are snippets of thought and observation from the past couple or few days. There are so many more. Perhaps we’ll get to those. For now, here are some.

My Easter basket ... and I don't care what you think of me!

My Easter basket … and I don’t care what you think of me!

Happy Easter, Ostara, Eostre (or whatever name you give / hold onto for this season, and I am speaking in a sweeping nature of the season itself, and not of a particular date on a calendar)!

Really, though, I’ve grown so weary over the years of all the bickering over this season, its origins, meanings, symbols, etc.

I don’t mean to diminish the importance of this season, or any of the magic and power it possesses, for anyone … anyone … but it just seems so silly to fret over any of it, especially during the season itself.

“I spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone”

(From the song “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by U2)

More than you know …

Personally, I hold a great deal of importance, tradition, meaning, and, yes, even power to this season. I have experienced its power in great depth (and not how some would believe – indeed, some would burn me at the stake if they had the opportunity) and I revel in its traditions, unveilings, and the unquenchable and radical changes it brings.

I suppose this is my point: give heed and attention to your own traditions, rituals, observations, and practices. If you have opportunity to engage in conversation about any or all of it, do so, but with respect and humility. Most important, do your thing. Do your thing.

Do your thing.

Halloween is not far off now. Rejoice!

So much of what people are reacting to these days is a direct result of media influence and conditioning. Oh… My… Holy… CAN-WE-TAKE-A-STEP-BACK-AND-SEE-HOW-CRAZY-IT-ALL-IS!!!

I (we) am (are) watching businesses shut down, prejudice, the implosion of entire states and cities, people throwing other people to the dogs, hate, bullying, wars, seemingly innocent and well-intending people turning into monsters, definitely not innocent and evil-intending people being hailed as gods and saviors, more hate, ugly, stupidity, ugly, ignorance, ugly, stupid, ugly … and did I mention ugly, stupid and ignorance?

But, then, this is precisely what THEY want, right? Distractions and diversions and half-lies abound …

Everybody’s playing the game
But nobody’s rules are the same
Nobody’s on nobody’s side

(from the song “Nobody’s Side” from the Broadway sountrack to CHESS)

I agree, there is a lot of really messed up stuff going on in our world, but the way so many of us are reacting to all of it is really making it much uglier than it needs to be. There may not be much you or I can do about what some nutstick does to generate media attention, but there is a lot we can do about how we react to it and how we treat others in the process.

Too many people allowing social media, the news, pictures, graphics, memes, and complete fabrication of statistics and facts form their politics, philosophy, beliefs and convictions, and behavior.

You and me. Let’s do better.

Shall we?

Moon = beautiful!

Moon = beautiful!

I absolutely LOVE moon-gazing! This weekend’s full moon (and all its glory and mystery) – I shall fully enjoy each moment I have with it.

I have a secret to confess … I bought more seeds for my moon garden today, and I can’t wait to get these babies in the ground! Shhh … don’t say anything. My wife doesn’t know yet. Not that she’d care, but I also bought her an Easter gift that is a little bit tied to my purchase. Hehe…

Something else I love: Vikings on History Channel! I admit, I’ve been a raving fan since episode one (and, no, I’m not getting paid for this, sadly). This season is, Wow! Longer seasons, longer episodes, fewer (much) commercials, and just keep drawing me in. I’m okay with it.

Thank you!

Until there is more randomness to report, I’ll meet you where fashion sits …

Puttin’ on the Ritz!
